  • What is a legal staff recruiter?
A legal staff recruiter is a person or agency that specializes in job placement for legal professionals for temporary, temp-to-hire and direct hire positions. Jobs can be with law firms or with in-house legal departments. Legal staffing recruiters usually serve as a valuable liaison for job seekers and employers.
  • How does a legal staff recruiting agency work?
AGA Legal Staffing candidates who are deemed suitable for job openings at law firms and at in-house legal departments are fully vetted and pre-screened. Screening involves letting the candidate know who we are, how we work, and what we can do for them. Current openings are presented, and candidates are given a “game plan” for employment application. Screening also includes going through a candidate’s background and experience, as well as obtaining legal testing and professional references. AGA presents open positions to candidates, then prepares them for the interviews. Contact is maintained with hired candidates to ensure that they are a good fit for both employee and employer
  • What is the difference between a staffing agency and an employment agency?
A staffing agency often offers a range of employment opportunities such as permanent employment, contract employment, temp-to-hire, and temporary positions. Employment agencies usually offer only jobs for permanent employment.
  • How do legal staff agencies get paid?
Staffing agencies have agreements with firms (clients) for receiving a percentage of a candidate’s salary when an offer is made. The payment amount is based on the agreed annual salary of the candidate but does not come out of the candidate’s salary. The employer is the client, and they pay the staffing agency after a position is filled.
  • Do recruitment agencies take a cut of a worker's salary?
No. This is a common misconception. Staffing agencies pay the candidate what they are seeking and the remaining fees comes from the client. There is also a common thought that agencies use high markups to obtain super high fees. AGA works with each client on an individual basis and considers market trends in order to get the candidate everything they are seeking and more, depending, on their levels of experience.
  • What makes an outstanding legal staff recruiting agency?
An outstanding legal staff recruiting agency will work to their best ability to find the right fit for a candidate. Communication is key – being open and honest with your clients and candidates and getting accurate details about both candidates and employers help staffing agencies match the right candidates for open legal positions and job opportunities. It is also imperative that a strong recruiter continues contact with clients and candidates alike, even after hiring.
